Friar's Bakeshop Voted Best Whoopie Pie!

Passadumkeg | May 29, 2008 06:37 AM

The Bangor Daily News, on Wednesday, ran the results of a contest to decide the best whoopie pie in north-central and coastal Maine and the winner, by a wide margin, was The Friar's Bakeshop, on Central St., in Bangor. The shop, run by 2 Franciscan Friars, produces heavenly tasting baked goods. Brother Don, in a prior life, attended both CIA and Johnson & Wales, knows his bread, wholly.
The shop is worth a detour if going through Bangor. Check out the article, by Emily Burnham, at www.bangordailynesw.com. But get there early, as the whoopie pies sell out quickly. There is also a chapel upstairs to pray for forgiveness for ones dietary sins. No Devil's food cake, though.

Hail Mary full of grace,
Let me make it to the friars' place.
