Recently there has been a man selling FRESH TOFU on Center St south of Canal St in Chinatown. He's been out there a few months, I think. The tofu is great and fresh and delicous. All of the tofu-haters out there don't know what you are missing. For $1, you can buy big tub of silken tofu with a sweet syrup on the side, or a HUGE (maybe 2lb) portion of firm. I have been searching for fresh tofu forever. He also sells Tea Eggs (4 for $1) out of a big pot. They are yummy and brown and delicious. He is just standing out there on the street by the subway entrance. I can't quite figure out if there is a pattern to his hours, sometimes he is there, sometimes he isn't. Today I will stop by and will ask him if I see him.
I think I saw someone in Sunset Park selling tofu also.
