I bought ground turkey on the 20th with a sell by date of the 31st. I put it in the freezer on the 21st, moved it to the fridge on the 25th, but I wasn't able to cook it right away like I intended. Is it still okay to cook on the 31st? Everything I read indicates that I should have cooked it within 3 days of thawing (at longest), but nothing discusses the "Sell By" date. Does freezing and thawing cause the meat to deteriorate more quickly? It is two pounds of organic ground turkey...not cheap, so I'd hate to throw it away, but don't want to make my family sick.
