Francophones: What can be used for "eau de vie, pur fruit"?

I am a pretty good French speaker and so do not have terrible difficulties in following French recipes. However, I am in the midst of making Vin de Noix (using my own home-grown black walnuts), following a recipe that was given to me by someone in the Dordogne a few years ago. The recipe calls for "eau de vie, pur fruit", which I take to be "pure fruit brandy", but when I go to the store to buy such a thing there are too many options to choose from: should I get something like Poire William, or Framboise, or something else? I need 2 litres of the stuff (!) so I don't want to risk getting the wrong thing. Any advice??
