Tried the Back Forty Texas BBQ in my search for decent places on the road to Tahoe. Had the pork ribs and side of links.
The links were totally without taste. The sauce was mild and of no help for the links.
I knew I was in trouble when the half rack of ribs was 6 already cleanly cut pork ribs. Ribs need to be torn apart, not cut. The meat texture was ok, but the ribs were suffering from having been cut some time before and had obviously sat in a warming tray. They came with sauce on the side , but the rub itself was hardly noticable. They were not terrible, but they were not very good either.
The garden salad and baked potato were good, as was the service, with very attentive waiters on the drinks.
I really want to like this place beceause it is convenient and easy to access, but I won't do ribs or links again. Can someone report on the sliced meats, the turkey, pork, and brisket.
