forking the table

I had dinner at Akbar this weekend. As my server cleared away my appetizer plate of onion bahji, she gingerly reached into my plate as if reaching into a pile of shit for a precious gem and with just the tips of her painted fingernails lifted my used, chutney laden fork then carefully placed it on the table, presumably to be reused for the main course. Gross. I mean why even bother doing it carefully? Just chuck it on the table, the aftermath would have looked the same. No really, I wasn't that offended by it but it was gross. I do realize that some eat Indian food w/o utensils but I don't think this is why I was expected to reuse my fork. I have experienced this at restaurants serving New American, Italian etc. Everyone in the restaurant was using utensils. Akbar is not fine dining but still! btw, I love Akbar's food.
