I will be spending a week on the Amalfi Coast in April with husband and two teenaged sons. We're renting a villa in Ravello, and the general plan is to do day trips with lunch at a restaurant, then cook dinner at home. We've been travelling to Italy for 20 years, speak Italian well, and we will have a car. We've reviewed the boards for restaurant choices (very helpful; thanks!) but are looking for some shopping suggestions. We prefer the interesting, quirky local places to supermarkets. Good cheeses and breads are important; seafood is not (I like seafood, but the boys don't--and, yes, I appreciate the irony, as we live on Cape Cod).
I will be in Rome for several days before the boys arrive, so we'll probably stock up on a few things at Volpetti before heading to Ravello. I don't want to arrive at the villa with two starving teenagers just when all the shops are closed.
