Food cravings-Alhambra suggestions?

Yvonne | Dec 21, 2002 06:31 PM

I've had some intense food cravings lately, mostly for things that I haven't been able to find here in Alhambra, home to great Chinese food but not much else. I know I can travel farther to get what I want but is there anything nearby? A grad student schedule (and budget) doesn't leave much time for Chowhounding. Suggestions for places within a 5 mile/15 minute radius of Alhambra would be best. Any help with the following?

A good bakery for a ham and cheese croissant. Not a sandwich, but the kind with the ham and cheese inside.

Fried chicken with the fixings or chicken and waffles.

A casual California, Italian, etc. cuisine restaurant, with entrees under $15. Nothing too fancy but a place to satisy the need to eat out when Chinese food just isn't cutting it.

Korean BBQ and soon tofu, without having to go to K-town.

Bagels. I've never been to New York so it doesn't even have to be deliciously authentic, just fresh and passable.

Mexican food but not tacos, tortas, or burritos. I'm looking for a restaurant with tables to get a plate of nachos, enchiladas, etc.

In exchange, I'll keep posting about my experiences here in Alhambra, even though it doesn't seem to be a dining hot spot on the LA board. :) Thanks.
