Florida Oroblancos in Manhattan Chinatown now

john959 | Dec 18, 201604:09 PM     1

I found unlabelled, large citrus fruit that appear to be Florida oroblancos at the sidewalk fruit stand at 51 East Broadway in Chinatown. They are also at another fruit stand about a block away. The price at both stands is 3 for $5.00. They look like California or Israeli Sweetie oroblancos -- like small, green grapefruit -- but are sweeter and juicier and have seeds, much thinner skin, and orange flesh. I like them better than Sweeties, which this fruit stand has offered in prior years but not this year, to my knowledge. Outside of Chinatown, any oroblancos are hard to find in New York. The fruit stand also has California red naval oranges but no Florida navals, which are extremely hard to find this year.
