Florence - lunch at Cipolla Rossa

Just to add a data point, on our late september flying visit we had our single Florence lunch at Cipolla Rossa, near the Mercato Centrale and Santa Maria Novella.
.
The restaurant was large, and fairly empty on a Monday. I ordered a pork chop - the only grilled pork dish on offer - called a fiorentina di maiale - as expected it was huge (really a serving for 3) but bare of the onion or other garnishings I was hoping for and well, while with good grill flavor, it was not as juicy as I might have hoped on at least half of the chop. I guess Italian pork has gotten boringly lean just like ours. I also had a filled pasta from their specials menu - I think ravioli or tortelli di mugello which had a rather firm bland cheese or maybe potato filling and a rich, smooth and livery ragu di coniglio - the ragu was excellent. I forced nonagenarian Mom, who had just wanted a sandwich for lunch per her usual custom, to order the grilled small chicken leg alla diavola - it was very tasty but she felt it had little meat and what there was was difficult to extract from the splintered bones caused by the flattening. Sorry, Mom! The Italians are more gifted with knife and fork than we are.Side of spinach was ample and Mom commented that it would be at least 4 "servings" from an American standpoint

Overall quality of cooking was good, and would return to try other dishes.
