Well, we did it. We ate at the highly touted Cibreo. My girlfriend and I both agreed that it was probably some of the best tasting food we had ever eaten. We almost decided not to go. I am so glad we did. We had made a reservation before we left New York. They had asked us to confirm 24 hrs. before our reservation time. We kind of decided we weren't going to go so we didn't call and confirm. When we got back to our hotel after our Tuscany wine tour of Montalcino the front desk called up to the room and told us that Cibreo was on the phone and wanted to know if we were still coming. We looked at each other and decided what the heck. We showered up and were soon on our way. When we got there we were pleasantly greeted, our coats were hung up and we were seated at a nice cozy candle lit table. A well dressed gentleman came to our table and sat down with us to explain to us our food choices. There were no menus. He gave us our appetizer choices and dinner choices. After we made our selections they brought us out small glasses of distilled water. Then came the mystery goodies from the chef. Some pickled vegetables in olive oil, fava beans with chunks of parmesan cheese, tomato flan, some sort of tripe salad, chicken liver crostini and potato rolls. Great stuff. We are not fans of tripe but agreed we would taste this dish. It happened to be delicious but we are still not tripe people. Our appetizers then came out. She had the ribollita (Tuscan soup) and I had the ricotta flan with beef ragout. Both dishes were amazing. For dinner she had the veal stew and I had the calamari spinach stew. Once again.... Amazing. For the climax of the meal she had the rasberry tart and I had a fresh cream chocolate flan. Again, amazing. Here is the topper. As if we didn't have enough food our food consultant brought out a piece of cheesecake that was to die for. Just a memorable amazing meal. Oh, you want to know the price. Well, just so you know we had a 56 Euro bottle of Brunello ( we had to, we took a tour of the region and wineries where they make it earlier in the day). Total bill 196 Euros. Memorable meal, memorable trip. Ciao. Brother can you spare a Euro. LOL.
