How to be a fledgling chowhound at school

Hello everyone, I've been a reader of the chowhound message boards for 2 years and this is the first time I've managed to work up the courage to post. I have a situation that I would apprecatiate any help with. I am a college and I will be returning to school in a month. School food is not anything to write home or post about. I've been cooking at school but I've been wondering if there is a way to expand my repetoire. My dorm building next year has a kitchen on every floor. The problem is no pots or pans. I own/have access to a crockpot, electric bowl with 1 temperature, a microwave and a rice cooker. I'm considering buying either a george foreman grill or a toaster oven. I'm not sure which yet or maybe both. Any opinions on what would be more useful? I would welcome any suggestions on what appliances or utensils to buy that would maximize my cooking ability at school. Any suggestions as to what to make would also be greatly appreciated. My only problem is storage space and budget. As a student my budget is not the largest but for good food I'm willing to sacrifice :)
