I recently posted to the general board asking for fish recipes & tips (see link). I've never liked fish, and I disapprove of myself for this, because "fish" is such a huge category to simply dismiss out of hand. There's gotta be something out there with fins that I could enjoy eating!

As usual, Chowhounds have come through for me in spades. Many of the responses suggest one of two initial strategies: 1) finding a restaurant that serves great fish, and 2) finding a source for fresh, just-caught, local fish.

So, my fellow KC hounds -- any ideas? I'm in midtown, but willing to travel around.

The only thing that occurred to me was the asian market at the City Market (the one on the west side of the big entrance). I've seen live crabs and such scuttling about, so maybe their other fish is fresh too. Anyone sampled their offerings?
