It's been a while since I last posted on Bo Bo China (404 E. Green St., 352-2272), which remains my favorite restaurant of any kind in C-U overall (if you're searching, some of my earlier posts are under its former name of Yen Jing). I recently had three very good fish dishes there: pomfret fish with seasoned soy, whole pike with shang la sauce (this is spicy, with lots of chilis and scallions), and braised whole red snapper. The first two are on the wall to the right of the cashier; most of the dishes on that wall aren't translated, but these are. The third isn't on any English-language menu afaik, but the cashier spontaneously mentioned it to me when I said I was interested in fish, so I'm sure they'd make it for you.
A few months ago, the place underwent some changes which made it superficially less welcoming to non-Chinese speaking chowhounds: the dishes on the wall to the cashier's right, which formerly were given in both languages, are now mostly Chinese only; and the takeout menu now has only boring dishes. But there is still a laminated menu on the counter which has most of the dishes that were on the old, more interesting takeout menu (you may have to dig for it, since it may be under some Korean-language menus).
