Firkin and Hound

Two weeks ago my wife and I went to the new Firkin and Hound in South Riding. I love fish and chips and was hoping to find a good source for them close to home.

We started with the Onion strings which were a little soggy. The Dill sauce they combined it with did not work. Not a good combination of flavors.

I ordered the fish and chips. The breading was a little doughy but overall it was ok. Probably a 6.5 out of 10.

My wife pointed to a picture of a steak and cheese and asked for whatever that was. The server looked at the picture and identified it as a different dish (A piece of steak on bread). When the mistake was pointed out the the server she took the dish off the check and we kept the sandwich which was dry and tough. 4 out of 10.

Another issue we had the place was the fact that the door was left open to the tables outside. This resulted in flies all over the place.

The service was fairly uninspired and our waitress did not seem thrilled to be there. The ambiance seemed nice enough and the beer was good but we were fairly dissapointed by our experience. I doubt we will be back which is a shame because we had high hopes.

On the bright side, the Great Falls Ice Cream next door was quite good.
