Had a lovely dinner at Firefly last night.
Reservations were for 8:15. Arrived at 8:10, our table was not ready, had a nice glass of shiraz at the bar.
Seated promptly. Started with an appetizer, the crimini and goat cheese bruchetta. Lovely tang of goat cheese and warm sliced crimini, topped with fresh chives.
Dinner was red snapper (for me) and steak frites (husband). The snapper was amazing, over a onion confit and roasted fingerling potatoes. It was very asian-inspired with five-spice powder. Unique and delicious. The steak frites were good, with a tangy read wine reduction and herbed butter. The frites were crisp and delicious.
With dinner we had a half-bottle of a cabernet. Big and nice.
Dessert was champagne and a brownie sundae topped with chocolate chip ice cream and caramel sauce. Yummy.
Service was prompt and unobtrusive, the way I like it. The place is LOUD however. We were seated in the back room, which was quiet until a big business dinner was seated behind us. Lovely decor, but could use a little sprucing up.
All in all, an excellent birthday meal.
