"Fine" dining in Louisville without the fine dining cost?

mattlavery | Sep 19, 201501:49 PM     1

Have an overnight in Louisville in a couple of weeks and plan to meet up with a friend for dinner. Will be staying at the Galt House (right near the performing arts center) and looking for something good within a short cab ride away.

Looked at the James Beard finalists for this year, and 610 Magnolia looks fantastic, but a little more than we were looking to spend (especially since one of our diners has recently had weight-loss surgery and has a stomach with a 2 oz. capacity). Lilly's was on the list, too, and doesn't seem as pricey. Is that the way to go?

Before I finalized my plans, I wanted to see what ChowHound readers had to say. As fans of shows like MasterChef and Top Chef Masters, we're looking for a memorable meal without a painful price tag. Thank you in advance for any recommendations you can offer!
