finally found a reliable and tasty Chinese takeout in Ewing (Merc County)

After many disappointments I finally found a reliable Chinese takeout. It is Number 1 Chinese Restaurant 1433 Parkside Ave, Ewing, NJ (609) 883-7775, located near corner of Parkway and Olden Ave, in a tiny strip mall with a 7-11 and across from Shop-Rite.

I've ordered 4 things from lunch menu and all were good- not outstanding but reliably good: Gen. Tsos chicken, pork w/garlic sauce, boneless spare ribs, sweet sour chicken. I walked in and ordered and made careful observations: lunch items can be served over white rice, but I chose pork fried rice, which was freshly prepared with chunks of roast pork. Hot and sour soup was decent and fresh ( not quite as hot and spicey as I like), served with those fried won ton noodles (homemade). With lunch menu you can purchase egg roll, soup or soda for only $.35 so I rec that. I requested fresh pork for my pork dish instead of roast pork and it was no problem, just the way it should be. This place does a monster delivery business. During lunch there were two front end people taking orders, 5 !! cooks and two delivery people, all squeezed into tiny place. No tables to eat at, but seats for waiting. Prices are extremely fair and portions are generous. Give it a try. I'm going to run my lunchtime errands there to get take out.

I noticed next door a teriyaki place just opened with an interesting dishes: oxtail, turkey wings, collards, and a few others I can't remember.
