finally hit Bergamot

Took a while, but we finally had a chance to hit last month (and finally remembered to download the photos to write this up :-).

Started off w/ an amuse bouch of fried salted cod topped w/ a little chunk of olive (see photo) in a bit of tomator sauce. Probably would have been better warm, but it was cold.

The prix fixe for the day included scallops w/ fennel on an orange emulsion (sounded more complicated than it looked, but it tasted good :-). The entree was a perfectly cooked scate with mushrooms and tomatoes; this was great and reinstated my fondness for skate (last time I had it at a different place, it was overcooked and terrible). The dessert was a sugar cake w/ ice cream and blueberries (tasted better than it sounded).

We also tried the confit tuna on top of heirloom tomatoes from the regular menu. This unfortunately didn't work for either of us because we prefer tuna rare/raw. I'd go so far as to say it was a waste of good tuna :-P
The entree off the menu was beef tenderloin w/ corn. This was well cooked and the corn was very sweet...more so than we've been able to find farmer's markets this year.

Bergamot changes their prix fixe every day and announce it via their facebook page. As you can see, the portions are a bit bigger on the regular menu. The prix fixe was adequate for me (I'm one of those weird skinny hungry freaks :-), but would have been full if I had eaten from the regular menu.

All in all, a good experience for me. My DC liked the prix fixe better since we both hated the tuna (but she'd also rather go to Mamma Maria for the price point).
Total for both of us after tips was $110.
