Well I finally made it to Tepa for lunch. I went with two friends, so we were able to try three different dishes at Jorge's suggestion. We had the three enchiladas (two white and one pink), the shrimp in rose petal sauce, and the three tamales. I LOVED the enchiladas, especially the one stuffed with the corn fungus. I also enjoyed the beans and the saffron rice. The white rice was not very tasty, in fact, it had a weird flavor. The corn tortillas were good, but I found the flour tortillas a bit chewy for my taste. The shrimp in rose petal sauce was good, but not exactly something I would order again. I'm not a big fan of shrimp with the tails still on...too much work to eat them? I actually went back the next day with my partner, and had the three enchiladas again. My partner had a sope, which she really enjoyed. The place was packed for lunch, especially on Friday. Service was pretty laid back, it took awhile to get our bill at the end of the meal, but it was okay with us. Watching the platters of food go by gave us inspiration as to what we will order the next time. Jorge is a great host, obviously loves what he is doing and is passionate about the food. Thanks to all the Chowhounders who posted about this place, we NEVER would have found it without you!
