The Filipino American Community Council of Michigan is putting on a Kalayaan picnic Saturday after next at Hamlich Park on 13 Mile east of Dequindre. While it is tough to prepare great food for a crowd, this still could be interesting from a foodie perspective. There is a contest to see who makes the best Adobo (hopefully more than just the judges can taste… or maybe it is determined by crowd vote!??). Also, there will be a Lechon cooking demonstration, which I’m guessing will turn out to be (small pig) pork belly, as opposed to a whole suckling pig.
am-9am: "Lakad Alay Kalayaan" (Freedom Walk)
30am-11:00am: ZUMBA ($5 to participate) with Olive Quinal
30am-10:45am: Balloon Launch & Lechon Demo***
00am: Parade of Organizations, opening of event & national anthems
