The Fear of Letting Go

xetaprime2 | Dec 29, 201404:40 PM

Yesterday I posted some pictures of my 30 year old stainless 7 piece cookware set. And I've had some wine. And, I've been thinking of buying a new set and with all that entails- choices and believing reviews etc.

I went over to pour fresh water for a cup of coffee and saw one of my trusted pots in the sink full of water. I mean the pot was full of water. And I thought, in all the years I've owned this pot I have never seen a spec of rust. Then I thought of all the recent reviews of new cookware where people have reported rust or other issues. I love my old set. I would love a new set with steel handles but boy I would hate to end up with crappy after 30 years of bliss. ya know? How did I get that last set anyway? At Job Lot in 1985? How do you buy a new set when the reviews make you worry?

In case no one read my last/first post I'll post one more pic for why not. You can care for what you have but still want a shiny new set... All those Amazon reviews include some warnings. Rust, metal splitting, glass top shatters, sticky food! How do you take that leap again with all the warning signs screaming at you! OY!
