We have many wonderful dining experiences in recent months, some at old favorites, some at new places.
One restaurant that stands out is my husband's new favorite: Meritage.
We had been there twice since the summer, and recently chose to go there again to celebrate a happy occasion. There were seven of us, and every person thought it was outstanding.
Among the seven of us, we had "snack" size dishes (small appetizers), appetizers, and large plates.
I can't begin to list what we ate except to say that the next time we go back, I will have trouble not ordering the foie-gras ravioli and the escargots (a very different presentation.)
My husband, the great cook, makes terrific chicken but he said his chicken was the best he ever had - juicy, tender and delicious. The steak, fish, sides - all topnotch.
I was tasting right and left - and everything was soooo good.
In addition to the excellent food, the atmosphere at Meritage is pleasant and relaxed, with a bearable noise level. The tables are not squeezed together; you don't feel like a sardine.
Craig Laban gives Meritage three bells and says that it is underrated. I agree wholeheartedly.
Prices are moderate. You can check out the menu online.
