Made my first trip in awhile to Berkeley Farmer's Mkt this saturday, too much awesome stuff to talk about in this short message, but what really stood out at dinner last night in addition to the awesome organic potatoes, asparagus, cauliflower, lettuces, broccoli and zucchini was the fatted calf stuffed guinea fowl from Hoffman farms. They had been de boned, stuffed with sausage and herbs. After searing the outside, I bbq d them about 25 minutes at 350. Juicy, delicious, rich, wow. World class Finocchiona salame which we have been eating through the day. Not cheap, but wow, as good as you will get anywhere. A little goes a long way with sausage stuffed fowl.
As an aside, I was in line with two different people who were paying and conducting transactions while carrying on conversations on their cell phones. RUDE. Monterrey Fish has a sign posted saying no cell phones while conducting transactions. Bravo to that. I am as wired as the next guy, more so even, but it is rude, unpleasant, fill in your adjective of choice, to carry on a banal conversation while buying produce.
