formerly fatima (san mateo)

ed | Jul 22, 200501:11 PM

just a heads up, the new resto in fatima's old space is called dong bei, iirc. pronounced with a long 'o' that means 'east north', which is the area of china formerly known as manchuria. it is also their old industrial 'rust belt', and the home of many wheat-based starchy comfort foods. there are restos up there that are completely dedicated to dumplings, for instance.

anyway, a cursory scan of their menu reveals an emphasis on noodles and dumplings, but by no means a dominating one. too bad. but there is a section on dong bei specialties, which i hope eventually to explore.

has anyone tried it?

el camino at 20-something st. (near charles schwab).
