OK this one is tough, and it may be going against the chowhound principle where the yum factor comes before fat-content. i'm looking for restaurants (deli, markets, etc.) which serve veggies cooked with minimal fat/cream, and good soups (non cream-based). any suggestions for restaurants who won't give you a rude stare when you ask that your pasta/potato be substituted by an order of steamed broccoli? my dad was just diagnosed with high blood pressure and blood sugar level. he's very miserable right now, having told that he has to cut back on sugar (potatoes, rice, noodles), meat, and greasy food...
some examples: california chicken cafe -- veggie soup; korea town galleria -- kimchee stew; pradeep's indian cuisine on montana ave -- water-based curry, saag with califlower, we asked to have the rice replaced by an order of veggie curry; vegetarian shabu shabu.
i'm not looking for some fancy steakhouses... just some low-mid price eateries will be fine
thanks a lot guys.. really appreciate your help
