Faryab in Bethesda offers some very good Afghan food in an attractive setting. Much better than the choices I've found in Virginia.
In fact, it *mostly* replaces my cravings for the departed Kabul Caravan in Arlington, a true Chowhound destination restaurant that folded after september 11th.
You can have an excellent meal at Faryab made up of buranee, (triangular pieces of flat bread filled with scallions and fried), aush (beef noodle soup with yogurt and mint), and the very tasty pumpkin dish - chadu palow.
Quibil palow, with lamb, is far less interesting, and the lamb never has much of a chance to flavor the rice.
