This year's version is FARMSTAND, an all-day dining option serving meals prepared in a new mobile kitchen. Last week I had the chance to grab a late lunch here.
I walked up to the trailer under the assumption that I would place my order there. Nope, my server escorted me to the patio to choose a spot, took my order from a menu and provided attentive table service.
I asked my server about the relative size of the two sizes of Caesar salad. He recommended the smaller one, $9, if I were getting the protein option, saying it would be a filling enough lunch for most people. Local fish of the day supplement, $8, was halibut seared on the plancha. He was correct, this was just the right amount of food for me. A really lovely Caesar made with crunchy Little Gems romaine lettuce, airy croutons, finely shaved Parmesan, a scatter of snipped chives and edible flowers, a couple of boquerones, and a lilting lemony garlic-anchovy dressing. I'd like to eat this every day.
For dessert, the ice cream sandwich of the day, $9, featured gluten-free double-chocolate cookies sandwiching caramel swirl ice cream. The cookies were deep in chocolate, but on the brittle, hard side. The ice cream was dreamy, and this was one of the rare occasions when I felt a dessert would benefit from a little more sweetness.
I chatted with the one other party on the patio. They allowed me to take snapshots of their food. This was the trio of Baja fish tacos, $18.
And the Veggie sandwich served with fries, $16. Heirloom tomatoes, cucumber and micro greens were tucked into a house baked sandwich roll. Both said they enjoyed their meals.
Hours are in flux as the season changes. and my server recommended calling the concierge ahead to confirm opening hours.
