Fantastic dinner at Street & Co in Portland

On our recent trip to Maine, we stopped for dinner in Portland. We took the advice of the locals, and went to Street & Co for dinner. This rustic and cozy seafood restaurant served a variety of French and Italian inspired fish, seafood, and pasta dishes. We started our meal with muscles Provencal ($8) and crusty baguette. The sauce was so good; we dipped our bread into it until the last drop disappeared. For entrees we had seared tuna with olive tapenad ($25), grilled swordfish with garlic aioli($23), and seafood stew($25). They were all fantastic. The wine list offered an excellent selection mostly from France and California, with many good choices for around $20/bottle. The service was attentive and friendly without being intrusive. We were lucky to get in on a friday night at 6:30, but if you go any later, reservations are a must on weekends. Street & Co is a sister restaurant of a more upscale Fore Street. I heard some mixed reviews of Fore Street, but Street & Co was a truly wonderful experience.
