Fancy Ethnic / Seafood?

JT | Jul 22, 2002 07:37 AM

My friend's parents are in town and expressed an interest in eating in a fancy[er] restaurant.

We'd been thinking a fancy Chinese/Thai/Vietnamese place or a seafood place like Kinkead's. Any suggestions along these tracks? Driving not a problem.

Some thoughts we'd had:

Fancy Ethnic: Duangrat/Rabieng [whichever one is the fancy one]. Viet Royale or Huong Que in Eden. Or the Peking Gourmet Inn on Leesburg Pike, because they have Peking Duck and her folks might like to eat somewhere George Bush ate. On the other hand, I've never been inside the place, and don't know what it's like. And should I really be taking food advice from George Bush? Anyway, we've been to the two Vietnamese places. Any advice about the others? Other recommendations?

Seafood: We've been to Kinkead's, and I've seen mixed reviews for Johnny's Half Shell. The Post guy can't stop talking about Sea Catch. What's Oceanaire like?Advice?

Thanks.
