becoming a fan of the jamaican special at the otter (asheville, nc)

had the regular, thursday-night, jamaican special at lucky otter last night. this is the 3rd week running that i've tried it. last night's was: tilapia with curry sauce, roasted & jerked (or should that be jerked & roasted?) vegetables (carrots & sweet potatoes among others), black beans & coconut brown rice, a tomato and spinch salad with vanilla vinaigrette, and plantain chips.

i have little experience with this cuisine, so can't comment as to authenticity, but it was excellent. i should note, too, that i generally don't care for coconut, sweet potatoes and plantains. the roasted & jerked veggies and plaintains were particularly good. the salad was really nice, too, with just a hint of vanilla.

inexpensive to boot. my wife and i ate (she had the schwank pizza), split an app and had three margaritas for $34 (including tip).

oh, they also have $2 red stripes on thursdays.
