Hi all,

It's my birthday on Thursday and I'm looking for a special, chowhoundy place to have dinner. I'm craving something that will make me feel like I'm on the other side of the world...something with sumptumous dark decor where you sit on cushions and linger over 7 small courses and sip wine and maybe smoke a hookah at the end of the evening. The atmosphere is important, but I'd like to have good food too. My boyfriend's vegetarian so I thought something turkish or moroccan might fit the bill. I've been to Chez Es Saada and didn't really like the food- very Americanized, I felt. Plus, it was too crowded for the belly dancer and she accidentally whacked my boyfriend in the face during a spin! Not too sexy. :) (Though the mint tea at the end was delightful.)

Anyway, does anyone have a suggestion for a place like that? Other types of ethnic food suggestions are welcome. The main requirements are that the food is good (and not French, American, or Italian) and the atmosphere full of birthday specialness.

Thanks in advance,
The Pie Queen
