Well, hounds, I'm working my way up Hennepin now. I
checked out the new Namaste that is next to the new
Duplex. Namaste is owned by the same guy that had
Himalayan Chai on Franklin, and he now has a restaurant called Namaste and a gift shop, Kathmandu,
upstairs. Really pretty space, painted in cheerful shades of yellow and orange with a brass Buddha in one alcove. About half the menu is vegetarian, and they state that they use organic and free range meats,
which immediately endeared me to them. I had aloo chaat, an appetizer that is a patty made of potato with yogurt, onion, cilantro and tamarind, and sprinkled with rice krispies on the top! Very good.
Also had an entree called coconut curry with tofu, eggplant and mushrooms, and a dessert made from strained yogurt that was great. Everything was great!
And for those of you who yearn for more spiciness, this food was spicy but done right, so it wasn't overwhelming. I confirmed that the rice krispies are
authentic to Nepal.....
