Visiting New York next weekend for three and a half days. I'd like to branch out and try some ethnic cuisines that are impossible or hard to find in other American cities. For reference, I live in Florida, so Caribbean food is probably off the menu. For example, I'm familiar with Dim Sum and Cantonese food, but are there any outstanding restaurants featuring food from lesser known regions of China? Right now, I've got Pok Pok, Tortilleria Nixtamal, and Momofuku on the map, but would like to get a little more off the beaten path as well, both geographically and culinarily.
I'll be staying in Astoria, but willing to go to any of the boroughs for good eats. I'm mostly interested in casual, one and two dollar sign priced restaurants, but will consider a higher price point for something special. Thanks Chowhound.
