my fellow gastronomes,

i'm trying to put together an ethnic feast with about 12 friends & looking for informed opinions-suggestions. we're primarily interested in authentic, strong-flavored foods & genuine unpretentious ambience...

it would be nice if the place could do something slightly "grand" or feast-like. for example: a whole duck, fish, or goat comes to mind...

lastly, as far as geography, we want to stay within a 10-15 mile radius of west hollywood (preferably not in the valley, nor east of chinatown).

some ideas i had include:
ruen pair (thai); aladdin's (bangladeshi); guelegazeta (oaxacan); csardas (hungarian); any serious phillipino or salvadoran places?? and wondering if al watan (indian) is too far away (and/or worth it)?

respectfully, i submit my humble request to this great & knowledgable board!

i appreciate it.
