Ethiopian Diamond review

LO | Sep 2, 200305:34 PM     5

Had an excellent lunch at Ethiopian Diamond yesterday. We shared the vegetarian combo, which consisted of cabbage/carrot, potato/green bean -first time I have seen the green beans combined with potato in this dish, collard greens, lentils, split peas and potato carrot. Everthing was very good and extremely fresh. The preparation was excellent, in fact, this is the first Ethiopian place I have been to that did not cook the life out of the collard greens. The injera was nice and lightly spongy, not too sour. Haven't been to other Ethiopian places in Chicago yet, but this one ranks up there with ones in MN, DC and almost up to Meskerem in NYC, which is my all time fave.
Service was good as well, but there were only about 5 others there, as it was after 2PM on labor day.
