Essential Treasure Island and Clearwater Spots

Hi Hounds!

My husband, 14-year-old, 20-month-old, parents and in-laws will be spending Presidents’ week in a new part of Florida for my own little family. We are generally in the Fort Lauderdale or Key West or Sanibel areas when we’re not at Disney :) Haven’t been this far north before. My parents have been coming to this part of Florida for quite some time and think we will like its Old Florida quieter, more tropical “feel” very much. I hope so!

Looking for iconic or really notable-among the locals places to eat. Casual. Cuban. Lots of grilled fish. Holes in walls that the locals love. We were going to drive to Bern’s in Tampa to celebrate one special birthday dinner but if there’s a local destination dining type place I’m game. The Clearwater area that would be great for this as we will all be together at that point.

I have looked through these boards with the search option and haven’t found much recent activity with regard to these two communities. I have some stuff from 2012 but if there’s anything more recent, I’d appreciate the leads. Thank you so much in advance.

Wishing you health and deliciousness,

Bern's Steak House
