I've been to Sai Jai twice now and enjoyed the food both times, but also come away with the question "what does this place do well that can't be found at Lers Ros and Thai House Express?" Everyone raves about the bbq pork shoulder...but what else is there that's special? The truly unusual dishes are on the "specialities" page of the menu, but are mainly appetizers.
Based on the photos of Chiang Mai on the wall, my guess was that northern Thai people run the place. And I confirmed with the server the other night that one of the two cooks is from the north. But there really aren't all that many northern entrees on the menu. Does anyone know if they will cook off-menu dishes on request?
