For the past couple of months, I have been really enjoying the maki at Ennju.
Ennju gives off a distinctly trendy vibe: coolly designed space with Animae kids working behind the counter. This is why I fully expected the rolls to suck.
Ennju pre-packages most of their rolls and has them available in a self-serve counter. The trick is to catch one of the guys behind the sushi bar and ask for an eel roll, which usually isn't (thankfully) premade. What really makes these rolls is the extraodinary freshness of the rice. Rice is not something that usually registers with me, but what a difference it makes. The other ingredients are impeccable as well.
The price is really reasonable too: $4.50.
I also tried the Ennju Salad (avocado, asparagus, shrimp and smoked salmon on a bed of greens) and that was a huge disappointment. Pre-packaged and tiny, it was a total rip off at $6.50.
