As advised by this board, I had a great bowl of clam chowder at the Pelican restaurant at Pacific City. Not to mention some fantastic beer, and I'm not even a beer person. So, I stopped by again for dinner but was less impressed. The food was fresh and competent, but that's it.
Had a mediocre breakfast at Hawk's Nest in Neskowin, but their pancakes looked good.
Had a surprisingly good lunch at the Tilimook cheese factory. I wanted the kids to eat something before the ice cream, which is good but not great (except for the berry flavors, which are excellent). So we ordered some grilled Tilimook cheese sandwiches, fish and chips and clam chowder. It was all pretty good, and the fish was excellent - freshly made and better than the fried fish at the Pelican. I wouldn't say this is a Chowhound destination point, but if you have kids and you're headed for the coast, its a great stop.
