I am renovating a kitchen in a Florida condo. I cook most nights but will be using this condo only about 4 months per year. There is no option for gas.
The condo currently has a coil electric stove with microwave above. I plan to replace the stove with either electric smooth top or induction. The problem is that I have received conflicting responses as to whether or not I can vent to the attic above the condo, which is on the top floor.
Can I use an induction range without venting (there is a kitchen window near the range)? Or use one with an over-the-range microwave as a venting source?
Or should I just go with smooth-top electric slide-in range? (Less pricey and no approval needed). Convection oven would be good. It seems as if my options are not great: Samsung, Bosch, LG, Frigidaire, GE seem to make these type of stove/oven combos.
I do not bake desserts and rarely cook meats that need a char, such as steaks.
I cook a lot of vegetables and pasta dishes and some fish atop the stove.
I have no experience with induction. While budget is flexible I do not want overkill and it does seem a lot easier to buy the slide-in smooth-top electric range. Plus I can keep all my old pots and pans.
Again, need help with brand and model, and venting options.
