El Cerrito: Bossa Nova Brazil expands, Festa Junina (SF, San Rafael, Richmond) and misc Brazilian stuff

Driving up San Pablo, it looked like Bossa Nova Brazil had expanded. This former travel agency with a few shelves of groceries is now a regular small Brazilian market with three aisles of groceries.

There is also a freezer case in back with Brazilian snacks like cheesebread, frozen Brazilian fruit and sausages.

I asked if they ever intended to serve snacks and they looked into the permits they would need and said they might re-consider it next year.

I picked up a few free Brazilian newspapers and was reminded that Festa Junina is coming up. Here's my report on the Richmond festival from a few years ago

http://www.chowhound.com/topics/46568

There is lots of Brazilian food like pamhonha (corn tamales) and quentao (hot, spiced red wine)

San Rafael (the big one) - June 21st 1104 Fifth Ave (a partir das 2pm)

SF - June 28 Hall of Flowers Golden Gate park (technically festa sertanea or Brazilian Country Party)

Richmond - June 14 Veterans Hall 068 23rd (5pm - midnight ... go early)

There seem to be a few new Brazilian restaurants in the area

Cafe di Casa 1165 Airport Blvd SSF 6am - 18h

Point Cafe Daly City 7050 Mission St they have free wi-fi. The exterior of the place is something. they have mane pelado which I haven't seen before. They also have salgados, sucos naturais, acai na tijela, vitaminas, sanduiches, pao de queijo, creme de frutas and cafezinho brasileiro.

Sabor de Casa 510 669 1693 ... this seems to be near me in El Sobrante but no address. They could be a caterer but the ad says 'feijoada to go Sabados"

Brazil Marin 3255 Kerner Blvd, San Rafael now has a cafe

Rocco's Pizza 711 East BlithedaleAve, Mill Valley (next to Whole Foods)

Caffe D'Italia 314 Linden Ave in SSF seems to have expanded the menu.

Samba Rooms 993 North Point SF has a picture of what seems to be a Brazilian hot dog which looks loaded like a Mexican hot dog.

Manor Room Pizza 442 Manor Plaza Pacifica now has live live Brazilian music ... uh ... as 5a feiras 18h-23h ... I should consider the add for Portuguese classes ... after I learn Spanish.
