El Caribeno in East Harlem

Someone on this board recommend a Caribbean joint on Lexington near 106th called El Caribe. Well I didn't find an El Caribe, but I did find El Caribeno, hardly Caribbean and most definitely Puerto Rican. Though we were keyed up for jerk chicken and the like, the three of us settled for pernil, roasted chicken, rice and beans, plaintains, octopus salad and three coronas. The food was superb and the bill was only $38 for food that could have easily fed four. Spanish is the lingua franca here, but the waitresses are able to understand bemused expressions, various hand gestures, and repetition of broken Spanish phrases quite well. I recommend this one. Was the poster wrong about the existence of a Caribbean joint on this block?
