I visited El Aguila last night, which is located in the strip mall on 16th Street in Silver Spring. There was a report on this a while back on here where someone said it was pretty good. After my first visit, I agree. Its nice to have another non-chain place to go in my neighborhood.
Their cheese and pork pupusas were very good. Not overly corny (sometimes the corn meal flavor is overwhelming in pupusas) and served with a tasty, spicey cabbage slaw. The ceviche was a very large portion of mixed shrimp, white fish, squid, octopus and scallops for $8.95. Very flavorful with just enough lemon juice, onions, cilantro and spices and some slices of avocado on top. The chicken burrito was equally good with well-seasoned pulled chicken with a ranchera sauce and cheese on top.
The place has a big menu with fajitas, salads, enchiladas, several shrimp dishes, lomo saltado, quesadillas, etc etc. I'm sure next time I'll get more pupusas and the lomo saltado.
Overall, a good neighborhood spot. Not a drive-from-Fairfax kind of place, but if you are in the neighborhood looking for some El Salvadorean/Mexican food, then this is a good stop.
