El Agazajo - former mexican converted to italian dive

slowcoooked | Feb 1, 201512:35 PM     5

This place is perhaps as good as it is hilarious and divey, i mean seriously that sign just says it all. 3 months old. Sort of like an italian joint you might find in a small town up in the midwest, run by a latino family and chef. reviews are 4.5 star solid elsewhere and the pics good, so we popped in after an Odd Duck lunch just to check it out and get a pepperoni roll or 4. we will go back certainly not for the ambiance, but as you see on the menu, perhaps the "muscles" marinara. they have veal and chicken with various sauces +/- pasta, and that will have to be next. I may wait on the seafood until I give it a few more try's. This might be a good place for a fun meet up. Funny, I bet the entree fare won't suck and will probably be pretty damn good. The rolls were very good. The calzones at the table next to us looked scrumptious as well. The marinara was very garlicky (check - Amysuehere), laden with oregano, and fantastic overall - it was served cold, but that was fine since the rolls were scalding. Anyone else brave this place? Apparently they do a pretty good weekday lunch service. Location is on the right, southbound 183, just past 71 adjacent to airport. We apparently missed the ladies indicated on the sign playing pool in the lounge in their skivvies. probably nap on sunday afternoons.
