After feeding my face to full after Thanksgiving too full, I am reflecting on my first year on Chowhound web site. I only discover it in January of 2002 and it has been a source of great enjoyment to our family.
I have found great places to eat and met many great people. I know I have grown as a person both internally and more so on the outside. I think that we should support this site and keep it free. When I first found it I am sure that I would have not paid to read it. Now not a day goes by without me check it out.
Not only is the site a resource for all the eaters in the area, but as I have found recently we have an effect on the newspapers in the area. As you may know or not know I have translated the Chinese menu from Utopia which will be in the Bay Area Chowsnew today. While at Utopia, I talked with owner while waiting for my take out order. She showed me a newspaper article on Utopia. She told me that after paying for the meal the reported informed her that they were following lead from the Internet. Well I think we were first to report on this place so we not only effect our family but the entire Bay Area.
On Wednesday, in the San Francisco newspaper there is an article on Louies California Chinese, which the North Bay Dim Sum first reported on after just opening. I am glad that I have already booked my dinner next week and tried their dim sum before they are spoiled by too much business.
I am glad there is a site like this, so that we can share our love for food.
