I just read in the L.A. Times this morning that Ed LaDou died of cancer on December 27. This is a very sad day for those of us who knew Ed both professionally and personally. Ed was not just a tremendously talented chef, but he was also a truly unique individual who was passionate about his artistry, his restaurant, and about life. He transformed the world of pizza and both Wolfgang Puck and the lawyers of CPK should thank him every day when they count the money coming in.
I am saddened by the loss of Ed. I am especially saddened as I met his wife last year and saw a picture of his little daughter as well. As with everything else, I could tell he was passionate about both of them. The L.A. restaurant world has lost someone truly special, but more importantly, someone has lost a husband and a father. May he rest in peace.
