Eco-Friendly fish eating

JEM | Mar 15, 2003 05:28 PM

I love eating fish but recently since taking up scuba diving and seeing the devastation fishing does, I have tried to stop. (A major concession as I love nothing better than to eat a plate of sushi). Our local paper had an article on seafood this week and pointed out a web site which I believe will help me to eat fish again without feeling like I am driving them to extinction. I thought perhaps other like minded hounds may also want to explore these sites.
http://www.seafoodchoices.com and http://www.environmentaldefense.org/s... . Both sites have a list of commonly seen fish and whether they are over fished or their farming causes harm. I feel now that armed with this information I can order tilapia and catfish as a seafood choice without feeling terrible.
I try not to put my opinions on eating seafood out there and hope you realize I am posting this as a resource not a sermon. Oh and for the eco-friendly choices they also have recipes for cooking the fish.
