Easter Desserts

Louis | Mar 25, 2005 04:01 AM

For those who are looking for a truly "spectacular" dessert, to serve, or bring, to a home cooked, family style, Easter dinner, look no further. Lydia's Bakery, 1656 Acushnet Ave. in New Bedford, makes the most incredible "Flans" to be found anywhere. One of these Flan "pie/cakes", will feed somewhere between 10 to 20 people, depending on the slice size. For $12.00 or so, it remains one of the best buys in the country. For those who do not know, a basic "flan" is an egg custard, with some sort of caramel sauce. However, Lydia has found a way to combine them with some flour, coconut, and other exotic flavorings, to produce one huge flan cake/pie. If you really want to impress your dinner guests, Lydia's is certainly worth the trip. The best part is that you can try a couple of small ones, while your there.
