Wondering if anyone has any deeper experience than I do with the variety of little Hispanic luncheonettes on the LES.
I've eaten at El Castillo de Jagua on Rivington St. a few times -- loved the shortribs, goat, and black beans, but found the roast pork too dry -- and once at Rodriguez on Essez St., where I had some decent oxtail, and the pork looked a bit juicier.
However, these places have huge menus whose depths I haven't fully plumbed, and there are also several other joints I want to try, including a few of those fried-smorgasboard places on Clinton St.
Anyone have any advice/recommendations before I go exploring? Thanks.
